The Story

Dewa Danjo Kunmichi is a famous swordsmith who was a senior disciple of Horikawa Kunihiro. Kunihiro, whose real name was Tanaka Kunihiro, settled in Ichijo Horikawa, Kyoto(very close to Tozando's office) and thus became known as Horikawa Kunihiro, the founder of the Horikawa school.

Before he became a disciple of Kunihiro, he was influenced by a group of swordsmiths known as the Mishina school, which originated in Mino Province. He had a wider range of work than his master Kunihiro, and was the most skillful swordsmith under Kunihiro.

This Wakizashi is in excellent condition with no flaws. The sword has a very well-packed ko-itame hada and its chikei is very active. The hamon has thin notare mixed with ko-midare and the nie is well tight. The large kissaki has a pointed-tip boshi, characteristic of Mishina. This piece by Kunimichi, a representative of the Shinto period, has been authenticated as a specially preserved sword by the NBTHK(Tokubetsu Hozon Token) and has a certificate of authenticity. It is Shirasaya koshirae, but can be equipped with an Uchigatana koshirae at an additional cost if you so desire. Why not add this wonderful Wakizashi, which is worthy of becoming a family heirloom, to your collection?
