The Story

This sword was originally made as a long Tachi, and it is believed that it was shortened over time to its current length. Considering the characteristics of the sword, the Kurashiki Sword Museum has authenticated this sword as being made by Masamori. Masamori was a disciple of Suishinshi Masahide and learned the sword making methods of Bizen-den and Soshu-den. His style is a mix of Soshu-den hada and Bizen-den chojimidare. This sword was created in the late Edo period, as inferred from its shape and forging method. The condition of preservation is good for its age, and despite the presence of minute flaws, the overall condition is clean. The fuchi-gashira, menuki, tsuba, and kojiri are original, and the fuchi-gashira and kojiri are a set. The tsuba is a sukashi-tsuba with an exquisite pattern. The scabbard has a few shallow dents and flaws from age, but it has enough value as an antique and is a recommended gem to be enjoyed as an object of appreciation.
