Katana - Shigehide - NBTHK Certificate - Uchigatana/Shirasaya Koshirae - Ubu Nakago - Shinshinto Era

Hayashi Shigehide, whose real name was Hayashi Tamon, was a samurai of the Omura clan in Hizen Province. He was a disciple of Taikei Naotane, who is considered one of the three great masters of the Sinsint period, and was active from the Tempo period to the Ansei period.

This sword is very well preserved and has no flaws, dents, or chips. It comes with both uchigatana and shirasaya fittings. The metal fittings of the uchigatana are all original and very tasteful. The scabbard is equipped with Koiguchi, Kurigata and Stag-shaped Kojiri. The lacquering of the scabbard is unique and reminiscent of tree bark patterns. Unfortunately, the top and sides of the scabbard are cracked. The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords has certified this Shigehide work as a sword worthy of special preservation, and it bears a certificate of authenticity.

This beautiful sword, created in the late Edo period, is a gem that is very attractive both for appreciation and for test cutting.
