The Story

This sword is a large wakizashi made by Yasuhiro Tachibana. Originally from Kii-no-kuni (present-day Wakayama Prefecture), he was born and was the second son of Tosa Tameyasu, the founder of the Kii-ishidou school. He moved to Osaka in 1657 after receiving the bureaucratic name of Bitchunokami.

The condition of this sword is relatively good, with no chips or dents, but with minute black rust. There is also a 7 mm long kitae flaw about 6 cm from the hahakimoto on the sashiomote. The overall surface of the sword is slightly cloudy.

The tsuba and fuchi-gashira are equipped with original metal fittings. The menuki and kojiiri seem to have been newly equipped in later years.

Since it is longer than a regular Wakizashi, it creates a majestic atmosphere even when displayed like a katana.
