The Story

A wakizashi by Terukado, a swordsmith loved by Isamu Kondo, the chief of the Shinsengumi bureau, and very popular since the Edo period, has just arrived.

The sword is very well preserved with no flaws, chips or rust. The hada is beautiful itame and the chikei is very active. Hamon is based on notare with ko-gunome interlaced with kinsen and ashi in the ha. The nakago is engraved with “Tamba-no-kami Terukado, Ewhich is believed to be authentic. Terukado, whose real name was Sokuro, belonged to the Zenjo, which was one of the seven swordsmithing schools in Seki. When Ujifusa, the head of the Zenjo school, moved to Nagoya, he succeeded him as head of the swordsmiths of Seki. 1659 saw him receive the title of Tamba-no-kami, and he changed his swordsmith name to Terukado. Koshirae is a shirasaya with excellent storage.
